Bilişim Vadisi

42 Software Schools

Open-Source Platform Türkiye Project, where Bilişim Vadisi is the coordinator and TUBITAK TUSSIDE is the project partner, aims to increase the number of software developers in our country and to make Türkiye a country that exports software and technology. Within this respect, successful software schools that operate in the global arena were analyzed and it was decided to work with French Ekol 42 Software Schools taking the teaching model and employment rate of graduates into consideration. 42 Istanbul and 42 Kocaeli Software Schools have started operating as of August 2021 with the participation of Mustafa Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology and founding members of Open-Source Platform of Türkiye.

42 Software Schools support students’ learning of software thanks to its “peer teaching” model and gamified teaching infrastructure. They further arouse students’ interest in software and help them to develop projects in teams. Anyone aged older than 18 may apply to these schools, where at least 40% of the student population comprises of people who haven’t been engaged in software-based works or who haven’t received software training during their education life. Following a training at software school that lasts for about 3 years, students do their mandatory internship for 3 months at the end of the first year.

Open-Source Platform Türkiye creates value at global level by reducing licensing costs and dependence on foreign resources to support import substitution.
Ekol 42 Software Schools continues to take a role in the realization of the goal to reach 500 software developers as determined in the 2023 Industry and Technology Strategy.
