Brain Drain from Germany

The award ceremony in Kocaeli, which H.E. Mr. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended, revealed the brain drain from Germany to Türkiye. Taha Uluhan, who came to Türkiye with the invitation of Bilişim Vadisi, explained his life story and his project to decrease the electrical vehicle’s carbon footprints.

Uluhan’s enthusiastic address was frequently interrupted by the protocol’s supportive applause. Uluhan’s presentation of events from his life in his speech, which was followed with interest, resulted in emotional moments.

Afterward, H.E Mr. President Erdoğan went up to the rostrum and stated, “We listened to the young man. We can produce these autos as long as we have educated young people who believe in themselves; and beyond production, we can compete with world countries in terms of electric automobiles.”, referring to Uluhan.

Mustafa Varank, the Minister of Industry and Technology, shared Uluhan’s speech on his social media account. In his message, Minister Varank said, “Young people! I would like you to listen to Taha’s story, who came back to his country with the invitation of Bilişim Vadisi, seeing the potential in Türkiye when he was working in Mercedes. Thanks to you, Türkiye will be the Star of Europe in innovative entrepreneurship!”

The Award Ceremony called The Ones Enriching Kocaeli, the Center of Technology and Industry, took place in Bilişim Vadisi, the technology, and innovation hub of Türkiye. In the program, Mustafa Sinan Sungur addressed the invitees as the representative of industrialists. Taha Uluhan addressed the invitees as the representative of entrepreneurs.

HE WAS BORN IN GERMANY

Entrepreneur Taha Uluhan stated that he was born in Germany in 1995, and he received education and gained business experience in Germany and added, “When I was only 23, I had the opportunity to work with the R&D director of Compact Cars and SUV vehicles in Mercedes. We simultaneously focused on recycling the lithium-ion batteries and the materials inside them in the most productive way possible with our fellow engineers.”

TÜRKİYE AND NEW TECHNOLOGIES

Uluhan stated that he saw that in Türkiye, new technologies were developed and there were hard efforts to strengthen the industry, and he said “New technoparks were constantly being established. Activities that trigger young people’s engineering spirit and watched around the world such as TEKNOFEST were being organized. While the world was moving towards the new mobility, Togg and Türkiye were also taking serious steps to enter this market.”

WE BELIEVED IN OUR PRESIDENT’S CALL

Uluhan stated that he came to Türkiye with Bilişim Vadisi’s Mobility Accelerator Program in 2021, and he said, “I came here because I believed our president’s call and our country’s potential.” He said that he had a team of 12, and 6 of them came to Türkiye from countries such as Germany and Switzerland, and he said “We did not give up and collected our investment with investors believing in us. We began working with the aim of establishing our pilot facility. If God pleases, we will export the technology we developed to improve electrical vehicles’ carbon footprints to Europe, the US, and other regions of the world.

WE CAN COMPETE WITH THE WORLD

H.E. President Erdoğan said by making a reference to Uluhan while speaking about Togg, “We have just listened to this young man. As long as we have educated young people believing themselves, we can produce these; and beyond producing we can compete with world countries in electric automobile field.”

EXPORT TO MORE THAN 40 COUNTRIES

Mustafa Sinan Sungur, who delivered a speech as the representative of industrialists, stated that his late father Hacı İsmet Sungur came to İstanbul 60 years ago when he was just 14, and said “He laid the foundation for Plastay Chemistry after long and grueling years. Plastay Chemistry, started from a tiny workshop kneaded with sacrifice, faith, and effort, now exports to more than 40 countries. With more than 200 employees, it’s the leader in its sector. With its endorsement surpassing 150 million dollars and export surpassing 80 million dollars, it continues to add value to our country with great determination.

WE TRIPLED IN THE PANDEMIC

Sungur indicated that this is a success story, and said “Even in the hardest pandemic conditions, we did not stop working and tripled our endorsement and export in dollars. Our country, which was pointed out as one of the countries that managed the effects of the pandemic the best in every sense, I would like to emphasize that our country’s international reputation gives us unspeakable power and faith. You see, I have been in industry and export adventure for approximately 40 years. But we have never greeted this reputable abroad.

THE COUNTRY MANAGING NOT BEING MANAGED

Sungur indicated that H.E. President Erdoğan provided them the self-confidence and said, “We are grateful to our President and his team, who gave us the belief that we should be the country that is managing but not being managed. New Türkiye is way too different from the past. Thank God, we have no worries, hesitation, complexes, or doubts about succeeding. Wherever we look in our country, we see this energy, dynamism and faith.”
