DIGIAGE Game Development Camp Took Place In Baku

The 8th DIGIAGE International Game Development Camp was held between September 7-10, 2023, at the Baku campus of Bilişim Vadisi, Türkiye’s technology and innovation hub. Following the completion of the five-stage application process, 82 game enthusiasts gathered at DIGIAGE2023, where approximately 300 applications were submitted.

85 Young Individuals Learned How To Develop Games

During the camp, 14 teams developed games and prepared investment presentations. 23 of the participants joined the camp on their own and formed their teams at DIGIAGE2023. Seven Azerbaijani game companies organized motivational speeches and mentorship support.

Organized to contribute to the gaming industry in Azerbaijan by providing more human resources, DIGIAGE2023 was held with the partnership of Bilişim Vadisi, Azerbaijan Technical University, Azerbaijan State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (ASAN Service), DIGIAGE, and Code Academy and with the support of Veyseloğlu Group of Companies. The camp concluded with a closing ceremony after four weeks of training and four days of boot camp.

Investment Planned In Five Teams

Officials from APY Ventures, the manager of the Bilişim Vadisi Venture Fund, attended the presentations of 14 teams on the final day of the camp. It is planned to invest in five of these teams and offer free office space at the Baku Campus of Bilişim Vadisi. All teams will also receive mentoring support. Teams that have successfully completed the mentoring process will be able to present to investors once more.

Turkish Ambassador to Baku Cahit Bağcı, Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University Vilayət Vəliyev, General Manager of Bilişim Vadisi A. Serdar İbrahimcioğlu, Innovation Center Director Vusal Rustamov, ASAN Service Vice President Ceyhun Salmanov and DIGIAGE Director Emre Yıldız attended the closing ceremony of DIGIAGE2023.

At the closing ceremony, Cahit Bağcı underlined the importance of the relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan and said: “As Türkiye and Azerbaijan, our goal is to become one nation that is strong and unbreakable, to succeed, and to show this to the rest of the world. We are confidently moving forward in line with the Shusha Declaration, signed with the vision of our President. The unity and brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan is an example for the entire Turkic world. Türkiye has never hesitated to share its experience in this field with its brother countries. DIGIAGE Held Its First International Program

Emphasizing that Bilişim Vadisi Baku started its activities on May 2, 2023, and that they set goals for acceleration programs, Bilişim Vadisi General Manager A. Serdar İbrahimcioğlu said: “One of these acceleration programs was the DIGIAGE game development camps. We completed a game development camp in which 14 teams presented. The majority of the 14 teams will be able to receive DIGIAGE investment and free office space at the Bilişim Vadisi campus in Baku.

Azerbaijan And Türkiye Ecosystems Will Work Together

Stating that 270 applications were made to DIGIAGE2023, 80 of them were selected and included in the training, İbrahimcioğlu said: “These 80 people made their presentations as 14 teams. As an initial stage, it was a development that increased our enthusiasm and motivation for the ecosystem. These camps will continue to be organized. Bilişim Vadisi Baku will have an increasing effect on the cooperation between the Azerbaijani and Turkish ecosystems.
