Italian Breeze at Bilişim Vadisi

Bilişim Vadisi, Türkiye’s base of Technology and Innovation will host Italian Design Days. Design Days with the theme of “Challenges for a New Sustainable Beginning for Made in Italy” will be held between the dates of June 29 and July 8.

A PROMOTION CEREMONY WAS HELD

A meeting was held in Bilişim Vadisi for the promotion of Italian Design Days. Bilişim Vadisi General Manager Serdar İbrahimcioğlu, Italy İstanbul Chief Consul Elena Sgarbi, Bilişim Vadisi Design Sets Director Dr. Pınar Sipahi and Bilişim Vadisi Public Art Coordinator Luca Molinari were all at the meeting.

THE WORLDS OF ACADEMIA, BUSINESS, AND ART CAME TOGETHER

Famous names from the academy, business, and art fields such as Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner, Prof. Dr. Zuhal Ulusoy, Arzu Kaprol, Fırat Neziroğlu, Koray Malhan and Hülya Öz attended the launch meeting. Also, ORTEM, AIRCAR, ERKBA, and OCTOPUS, which are among the design firms of Bilişim Vadisi, were also at the meeting.

TECHNOLOGY WILL INTEGRATE WITH ART

Speaking at the ceremony, Bilişim Vadisi General Manager İbrahimcioğlu stated that the Design Strategy and Action Plan published by the Ministry of Industry and Technology in 2018 included a project for the establishment of an international design valley, and added, “We are establishing a new design center called Bilişim Vadisi, within the scope of this project that identifies with craft and will allow technology to integrate with art.”

A NEW DESIGN IDEA

“With the new collaborations, let’s bestow the modern design idea that technology is integrated with art within this scope.” General Manager İbrahimcioğlu said, stating that the more technology enters our lives, its design does not just facilitate its usage but interferes in every division of life.

CONSTITUTING THE FUTURE

Stating that Italian and Turkish firms can come together and compromise, within the scope of design days, Italy İstanbul Chief Consul Sgarbi noted, “Italy and Türkiye can constitute future together.”

A NEW PLATFORM

Prof. Molinari, Bilişim Vadisi Public Art Coordinator, emphasized that Istanbul is an innovative place and said that “Italian Design Days is a platform that allows professionals to get together with artists.”

INTERCULTURAL TRADE

Tosi, the President of Europe Design Institute took the floor and said that the ongoing design days have a prominent place in intercultural trade.

INTERDISCIPLINARY ASSOCIATION

“Our goal is to establish an interdisciplinary association and for this association to create a source for technology.” Prof. Sipahi, Bilişim Vadisi Director of Design Center, reminded us that the center is providing support for those who work in the fields of branding and design.

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

Arzu Kaprol, the famous fashion designer, stated that within the scope of the Bilişim Vadisi Design Center, they brought fashion and technology together.
Italian Design Days, which aim to increase the interaction between Türkiye and Italy and encourage collaboration in every field involving design, will be held as web-based seminars between the dates of June 29 and July 8.

WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES WILL THE DESIGN DAYS COVER?

Within the scope of design days and under the curatorship of Luca Molinari and Pınar Sipahi, well-known Turkish and Italian speakers will be speaking in panels on the topics “architectural design”, “industrial design”, “public art,” and “wearable technologies”.

LIVE BROADCASTS

The event will be broadcasted live from a studio in Bilişim Vadisi and moderators will be attending online from Göbeklitepe, Galata Tower, Istanbul Bosphorus, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Dock, and Italian Culture Center.

MOBILITY OF THE FUTURE

The event will also host a workshop titled “Cities and Mobility of the Future” that will be attended by the students at Koç University, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul Bilgi University, Izmir Institute of Technology, and Europe Design Institute.

ITALIAN FILMS

At the event organized by Milano Design Film Festival (MDFF), hosted by the Italian Culture Center, short-length and long-length films will be screened; meetings with Italian design masters; and a web-based seminar that will be attended by MDFF curator Silvia Robertazzi and architect Carlo Gandolfi.
