Türkiye and Hungary Plan the Future of Autonomous Mobility

Türkiye–Hungary Joint Program Autonomous Vehicle Technologies Workshop Held at Bilişim Vadisi

Bilişim Vadisi hosted the Autonomous Vehicle Technologies Workshop, organized within the scope of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Hungary. The workshop, held in partnership with ZalaZONE Science and Technology Park and Istanbul Okan University, brought together representatives from the public sector, academia, and the private sector from both countries to explore cooperation opportunities in a wide range of areas, from CCAM testing infrastructures to artificial intelligence and 6G.

Supported by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Türkiye, the Türkiye–Hungary Joint Program Autonomous Vehicle Technologies Workshop took place on August 11, 2025, at Bilişim Vadisi. In partnership with ZalaZONE Science and Technology Park and Istanbul Okan University, the event addressed the latest developments in autonomous mobility, testing and technology development opportunities, joint R&D projects, and potential industry–university collaborations between the two countries.

Prior to the workshop, leading institutions from Türkiye and participants from Hungary visited the Robotaxi Testing Area to closely examine Bilişim Vadisi’s mobility-related applications. The program continued with registration and opening speeches.

The Power That Will Make Türkiye a Country of Entrepreneurship and Technology Lies in Entrepreneurs and Technology Developers

In his opening speech, Bilişim Vadisi CEO Erkam Tüzgen emphasized the importance of technology collaborations between the two countries, stating: “With advancing technology, the importance of collaboration is increasing globally. From a world where individual inventions were at the forefront a century ago, we have now reached a point where technology is co-created in the corporate sphere. We are moving toward a world where inventions are more likely to emerge through institutional collaboration. In this regard, I see this workshop and the collaborations we will establish as highly important.

We will continue to build partnerships with the vision of becoming a country that produces technology, exports technology, and becomes a hub of entrepreneurship. The ones who will make Türkiye a country of entrepreneurship and technology are entrepreneurs and technology developers. As institutions and organizations like Bilişim Vadisi and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, we will always stand by them and strive to provide solutions in whatever areas they need.”

Fighting Together for New Technologies

ZalaZONE CEO András Hárý drew attention to the R&D potential and cooperation opportunities between the two countries, saying: “At ZalaZONE, we believe we create a catalyst environment for technological changes. I think this is also the common point between Bilişim Vadisi and ZalaZONE; we are all fighters for new technologies. We are both members of IASP (International Association of Science Parks), and there are opportunities for both local and international collaborations.”

Nejat Tuncay, Founding President of UTAS at Istanbul Okan University, delivered a presentation outlining the overall framework of the workshop and underlined the importance of academia–industry collaboration.

The Future of Autonomous Mobility Discussed on a Multi-Stakeholder Platform

The workshop, attended by representatives of public institutions, universities, test centers, and the private sector, featured extensive exchanges of views on CCAM (Connected, Cooperative and Autonomous Mobility) testing and evaluation infrastructures. In addition to technical topics such as MIL/SIL/HIL/DIL simulations, controlled testing areas, and open-road tests, discussions covered cooperation opportunities for CCAM testing, upcoming EU and Türkiye–Hungary bilateral project calls, and the use of enabling technologies such as artificial intelligence, 5G, and 6G.

A New Era in Türkiye–Hungary Technology Cooperation

At the end of the workshop, both countries reached a consensus on integrating CCAM testing and evaluation infrastructures, accelerating joint R&D projects, and jointly applying to European Union project calls. Bilişim Vadisi, ZalaZONE, and Istanbul Okan University will continue working to strengthen these collaborations through concrete projects.
